| Hi, Have you ever picked up your phone for a quick look at something, only to realize 30 minutes later that you’ve been scrolling the whole time and that you feel more anxious, frustrated, or discouraged than when you started? It happens to all of us. We live in a world of endless information. Every day we’re flooded with headlines, opinions, controversies, and bad news. It’s easy to spend hours scrolling through content that leaves us worried about the future and discouraged about the state of the world. There’s even a name for it now: doom scrolling. But here’s a question worth asking: What are we feeding our minds? Just as our bodies need healthy food to grow and stay strong, our souls need regular nourishment too. If we’re constantly filling our minds with the worries of this world, it’s no surprise when we feel spiritually drained. God’s Word has the opposite effect. When you spend time reading Scripture, you’re reminded that God is still in control. You’re encouraged by His promises. You’re strengthened by His truth. You begin to see life from an eternal perspective rather than through the lens of whatever crisis is dominating today’s headlines. I like to think of it as “hope scrolling.” Instead of endlessly consuming bad news, you’re filling your mind with God’s truth. Instead of becoming more fearful, you’re becoming more faithful. Instead of focusing on what’s wrong with the world, you’re reminded of the God who holds the world in His hands. That’s one of the reasons I wrote What Every Growing Christian Needs to Know. One of the most important habits a believer can develop is spending time in God’s Word consistently. In this book, I share practical encouragement for reading the Bible, growing in prayer, connecting with other believers, and taking the next steps in your walk with Christ. Those same priorities guide everything we do at Harvest Ministries. Through evangelistic outreach, biblical teaching, radio, television, podcasts, and resources, we’re helping people come to know Christ and grow in their faith every day. When you give your first gift this month to support Harvest Ministries, I’d like to send you a copy of What Every Growing Christian Needs to Know as my thank-you. |
