3 Benefits Of Memorizing Scripture, And How To Begin!

It was David, the man after God’s own heart, who wrote, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart that I might not sin against thee” (Psalm 119:11). You may take an extended portion of Scripture to memorize, such as a chapter or a book. This certainly encourages you to see individual texts in their larger context. Memorizing Scripture topically enables you to target specific subjects or areas of life that need attention.

  1. Memorization is for meditation. Bible memory should not be to pride ourselves on how many verses we know! “Knowledge puffeth up” (1 Corinthians 8:1-2). Remember that the Word is to be hidden, not just in the intellect, but in the heart. When Scripture is committed to memory you can think on it at any time. We cannot always have an open Bible, but we can continually have an open heart.
  2. Memorization is for application. Scripture is not just for learning – it is for living. As we rehearse the Word it helps us to keep the will of God in view. Truth is to be known, believed, and obeyed. Consider each verse as another step in your walk with Jesus. Throughout the day you can apply God’s Word to your life.
  3. Memorization is for communication. It is impossible to quote Scripture you have never committed to memory! But if the Word is planted deeply in your heart, it can be put to good use. You can quote Scripture to yourself, to the tempter, and to others who need to hear truth. Bible truth is also the beginning point of effective prayer. Talk to God about what He is talking to you about!

Take a verse each day as your prayer prompter and allow the Word to lead you to a deeper communion with Christ.

Here Are Three Practical Steps For Memorizing Scripture:

  1. Record the Bible text. Write it out.
  2. Read the Bible text aloud. In this way, your eyes, ears, mouth, and mind all work together to help you concentrate on each word.
  3. Repeat the Bible text. The secret to memorization is saturation!

Hide God’s Word in your heart and see what He will do in your heart and life!

Apostle of Faith.

Smith Wigglesworth.

Smith Wigglesworth, often referred to as ‘the Apostle of Faith,’ was one of the pioneers of the Pentecostal revival that occurred a century ago.
Without human refinement and education he was able to tap into the infinite resources of God to bring divine grace to multitudes.
Thousands came to Christian faith in his meetings, hundreds were healed of serious illnesses and diseases as supernatural signs followed his ministry.
A deep intimacy with his heavenly Father and an unquestioning faith in God’s Word brought spectacular results and provided an example for all true believers of the Gospel.

Judgement?

“Will the Body of Christ Be at the Great White Throne Judgment?”

No. The Great White Throne Judgment is not for the Body of Christ, but for the unbelieving dead.

Revelation 20:11-15 describes this final judgment, where the dead are judged “according to their works.” Those not found in the Book of Life are cast into the lake of fire.

But we, the Body of Christ, are not appointed to wrath (1 Thessalonians 5:9). We have already been judged — not by works, but by faith — at the cross. Christ bore our judgment.

Romans 8:1

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.”

2 Corinthians 5:21

“For he hath made him to be sin for us… that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

Instead, we will appear at the Judgment Seat of Christ (Romans 14:10; 2 Corinthians 5:10), not to determine salvation, but for reward — to receive according to what we’ve done in the body after salvation.

We are secure, sealed (Ephesians 1:13), and complete in Him (Colossians 2:10). The White Throne is not for the saved, but the lost.
